The first of the Classic Modifieds was on track at Swaffham Raceway last weekend.

So far we have a Mk1 Cortina Build, an Anglia due to make an appearance in 4 to 6 weeks time. A morris Minor that being build on a shortened Reliant Scimitar chassis. A mk1 Capri, a Mk2 Cortina and a Sunbeam Alpine Smiley about to undergo transformation. We also had considerable interest shown during the weekend, You never know we could soon be in double figures!!!

The cars are Ford V6 powered either the 3L Essex lump or the 2.8 / 2.9 Cologne engine. Engines are totally standard except for a larger carb and sports cam. To keep costs down only standard gearboxes and welded diffs are allowed.

Both of the cars below have a total build cost of less than £2000

Hi Al

They are promoted independently by Swaffham Raceway. We will only be racing at that track unless we have a reciprocal agreement with another independent promoter.
At least it cuts down the number of diffs we need Smiley Smiley

Sunbeam Alpine Classic Modified using a Reliant Scimitar Chassis

Before the build started with the wheels fitted to get an idea of what it will look like when its finished.

Chassis cut down to match the Alpines wheelbase

Welded back together.

Snug fit and the engine is well back in the body so should handle very well!!

View from inside. Floor will be made from flat sheet steel.

Loving the look ! Especially the Anglia.

Couldnt look much harder if you rubbed Viagra in your eye !

Good luck with the formula guys.

If you'd like a section on this forum while you get up and going then that can be arranged.

Hi Would very much appreciate a spot on here to promote the formula while we get established.
I can also arrange a section on the Classic Oval Racing Forum for you guys to advertise your race dates etc.

In the meantime here's the latest update on cars for next season

So far every car for next season is different. The list to date is

105E Anglia
Mk1 Cortina
Mk1 Capri
Mk2 Jag
Humber hawk
Mk2 Cortina
Morris 1000
Sunbeam Alpine
VW Beetle

And lots of very interested drivers

I think we should easily be in double figures next season

Pics below are of the Mk2 Jag that will be build over the winter.

Give a man a couple of set of wheels and an hiab and he will play for hours Smiley

So what do you recon...13" or 15" slicks ??

I think I agree with you Al. The 15s do look a bit too big Smiley

Guess this Capri might be a tad heavier than the one your building Smiley Smiley
